The course provides you with a holistic approach to caring for the older people within the community. It is designed to equip you to provide physical and social support to elderly individuals and people with a psychological disability in hostels, group homes and community settings. In this course students will develop a strong practical focus in aged care and will be taught the basic skills and competencies required to enter and work in the aged care sector. There is a vocational placement component to this certificate which will allow the students to use the skills and knowledge learnt in the classroom in a work environment, giving students practical hands on experience in the aged care industry.

This course is ideal for those who want to formalise their existing community work skills and those who wish to work in aged care facilities and care for the elderly. General entry school leavers Year 10 or equivalent

Enrolment where experience and / or qualifications are indicative of success in the course.
