When I arriverd from the UK, I was already enrolled in a hairdressing course. But after speaking with an migration agent on the Gold Coast , I was made aware of AICA Education and the Diploma of Community Welfare Work. I hadn't heard of AICA at that point, and realised that Community Welfare would be more suitable for me.
After meeting with the course tutor, staff, students and visiting the college, I decided to switch courses.AICA Education is definitley for me. It is everything I hoped it would be, a very warm, friendly atmosphere and the classes are small, which I think makes learning easier. The course has excelled my expectations so far. It is interesting, varied and I feel it could open many doors for a career in the future.
I have met people from other countries and cultures and have made some great friends, making the college feel like an extended family.I would recommend anyone thinking of becoming and international student, to join AICA Education you won't regret it.
Sarah- UK - Diploma of Community Welfare Work
I grew up on the Gold Coast and completed my schooling at a local college. There were no courses offered in photography at school so I studied film and television instead. After finishing school I realised that I still felt passionate about photography and so decided to turn my passion into a career at at AICA Education.
I chose AICA Education because it offered modern and more practical courses than other educational facilities did. The also have state-of-the-art facilities , small class sizes and teachers that are industry -leading professionals.
I was impressed at how interactive and hands on the classes were. In my first year of study I was given the opportunity to work along side professioanl photographers at the 2008 Modelsearch final on the Gold Coast. I learnt about the effort that goes into organising large scale events and gained valuable experience from working with professionals. As an added bonus some of my photos were published in Inside Sport!
The Diploma of Photoimaging has covered everything from lighting techniques to business and marketing. I have had the opportunity to work with and be published in magazines as well as participate in paid work with other companies which allowed me to balance my academic education at AICA Education with real-world experience. I have also made many life long industry contacts.
