Code of Conduct
Introduction
It is a requirement by the Australian Quality Training framework Standards for Registered Training Organisations to have a Code of Conduct or similar instrument for its staff, students and associates. AICA Education is committed to a level of service to its clients that demands high ethical behaviour at all times.
Application of the Code of Conduct
AICA Education has a Code of Conduct that is to be signed by all students, staff and associates. Breaches of the code will be investigated through our Complaints and Appeals process and action taken accordingly.
Basic Principles of Conduct
It is expected that staff and students will work in a manner which displays respect for others and for property, diligence in their work, honesty in all dealings with each other and other parties, respect for privacy of others and for matters which may involve confidentially of information , privacy records and results , and that they will conduct themselves in a manner which respects the laws of Australia , it’s states and territories , regulations and rules by statutory bodies and the policies and procedures of AICA Education.
Staff
It is expected that all staff will:
- Work to the best of their ability at all times
- Take reasonable steps to ensure that there is adequate protection of confidential information and compliance with intellectual guidelines
- Ensure safety of colleagues and students by reporting any matters that may threaten the safety of others or that may pose a risk of damage to property of AICA.
- Deliver training fairly and courteously at all students without bias
- Provide assessment and feedback in accordance with policies and procedures set in AICA’s policies and Procedure manual.
- Conduct their assessment and training duties in accordance with the requirements of their position, in accordance with the course outline, training package requirements and other guides and advice for the appropriate qualification.
- Provide assessment and feedback to AICA in accordance with policies and procedures set out in AICA’s policies and Procedure manual.
- Provide support and educational guidance to students in a timely and responsive manner.
- Perform their work duties diligently and provide reports feedback to the Dean of College as requested from time to time.
- Be available for staff meetings, professional development and training updates
- Provide details for accurate retention of records as required by AICA from time to time.
- Act in accordance with relevant laws and agreements that are applicable to AICA.
- Comply with any lawful and reasonable direction given by a person who has the authority to give such direction.
- Observe legislation and AICA’s polices and procedures in relation to discrimination on grounds such as, sex, sexuality, race, religion, age, disability and marital status.
- Provide a safe workplace free from bullying and intimidation. If bullying is experienced or witnessed it should be reported to AICA as soon as possible.
- Report fraud or corrupt conduct to the Dean of College.
- Maintain a professional relationship with students by restricting access to all personal networking sites such as FaceBook, You Tube and MySpace, keeping personal sites private and appropriate
A Teachers / Trainers are expected to:
- Be aware of current trends and practices in the industry they deliver in.
- Provide students with information about requirements for assessment in each unit or subject and give feedback to student regarding their progress.
- Be prepared to negotiate assessments in recognition of the diverse needs of learners.
- Refer to AICA’s Policies and Procedures for all matters with clients and stakeholders.
- Keep clear and accurate records of all training and assessments and make available to the Dean of College at any time.
- Report any issues arising through dealings with students or stakeholders that AICA should be aware of.
- Maintain current knowledge of the vocational training industry as it applies to trainers and assessors.
- Attend staff meetings and professional development as required.
- Monitor the currency of the training Package that they work with to ensure delivery is compliant.
Students
Students are expected to:
- Enrol prior to closing date and paying applicable fees before or on the due date.
- Purchase in a timely manner all necessary books, materials and equipment (e.g. Laptop computer) required to complete the specified course.
- Understanding the requirements for the assessment of the course or module.
- Check that holidays, business commitments etc. do not clash with examinations/assignment deadlines.
- Observe at all times of all safety, health and hygiene, including appropriate dress, footwear and personal protective equipment.
- Take the responsibility to identify and tell staff about any individual learning needs they have.
- Be aware and comply with AICA’s policies that may affect students.
- Conduct themselves appropriately at all times while a student with AICA.
- Check the assignment requirements for all for each subject i.e. due dates, number of assignments etc.
- Maintain a high standard of behaviour whilst undertaking education activities and refraining from any activities that may result in damage to property or unduly interfere with the comfort or convenience of other course participants.
- Treat staff and other learners with respect, observe AICA’s polices and procedures in relation to discrimination on grounds such as, sex, sexuality, race, religion, age, disability and marital status.
- Refrain from sexual harassment
- Inform AICA of any changes of address / contact details as soon as possible.
