Mrs. Michaela Kloeckner - Ceramics/ Sculpture  

Renowned Artist Michaela Kloeckner joined AICA over 10 years ago and continues to share her wealth of Ceramic and Sculpture knowledge with AICA Visual Arts students. Michaela has won numerous awards both in Australia and abroad and exhibits her work regularly. Michaela’s dedication to the Arts and her passion for sharing her skills has resulted in many of her students producing prize winning work. Michaela’s attention to detail and “hands on” approach to teaching helps her students prepare for a career in the arts. Michaela organises regular field trips to galleries and exhibitions to give AICA’s students the opportunity to experience other artists work and discuss, compare and critique the work of local and international artists.




Mrs. Janis Barkle - Visual Arts

Janis Barkle holds a Bachelor of Education, Certificate of Art Teaching and has taught both in Australia and overseas. Jan has held positions of Head of the Visual Arts Department in several State Schools and adult education facilities Jan’s creativity and positive energy makes the process of learning both challenging and exciting. Jan’s focus on art in the real world ensures her students are prepared for a career in the Arts. Winner of the South Burnett Cultural award and Design, Jan has exhibited her work in Gold Coast and South Burnett Galleries. Janis has travelled extensively throughout the world including South East Asia, Europe, Canada, North & South America and the United Kingdom. Jan’s students have achieved remarkable results and have left AICA to find careers such as Tattoo Artists, in Advertising and exhibiting their work in local and international galleries.

Elisabeth Laurier - Community Services

Elisabeth brings a wealth of Community Services knowledge to AICA: her acedemic achievements include Master of Education,Bachelor of Arts (Psychology), Certificate IV in Volunteer Management and Community Services (abuse prevention) and Certificate III in Aged Care. Elisabeths practical experience has seen her hold positions such as Family Support Worker, Group Facilitator,Multicultural Aged Care/Disabilty Respite Centre Coordinator, Volunteer Program Coordinator and Community Care Program Coordinator. Elisabth ensures her students receive a braod knowledge of the Community Sevices industry and are job ready at the end of the course. 

Sharon Fleming’s formal qualifications include a Bachelor of Social Science majoring in Communications and Relationships and Human Service, Diploma of Community Welfare, Diploma of Alcohol and other Drug Work, Certificate IV in Community Services and a Certificate III in Children’s Services. Sharon has completed many industry related courses and workshops with the most recent being Mental Health first Aid for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island people and Mandatory reporting of Children at risk under the NSW Government initiative ‘keep them safe’. Sharon has extensive work experience in the welfare sector and is currently contracted by the NSW Attorney General as a Conference Convenor for the Department of Juvenile Justice in which her excellent mediation, group work and conflict resolution skills are thoroughly utilised. Sharon has also worked with people suffering addictions, mental health issues and women fleeing domestic violence.
Sharon’s passion for equality and social justice in particular the vulnerable and marginalised groups in society has lead her to the area of teaching in order to share her knowledge with others.
