Mr. Mark Ryan  -  Photoimaging Teacher   

 

 

Mark has recently joined AICA from New Zealand and is an experienced tertiary teacher of Photography, with a unique work history as a Professional Photographer. Marks experience as an educator includes co-supervision at a Masters level, as well as course development and presentation for undergraduate students. In 2007 he completed post graduate studies at AUTUniversity, and graduated MA Visual Arts and Design with Honours.Mark’s work as a professional photographer has included the photographic interpretation and documentation of highly technical and scientific experiments, forensic investigations, and the interpretation of philosophical and conceptual artistic ideas within the visual arts. It has also included international assignments with political and physical challenges, along with commercial assignments.                      

Mrs. Michaela Kloeckner - Ceramics/ Sculpture  

Renowned Artist Michaela Kloeckner joined AICA over 10 years ago and continues to share her wealth of Ceramic and Sculpture knowledge with AICA Visual Arts students. Michaela has won numerous awards both in Australia and abroad and exhibits her work regularly. Michaela’s dedication to the Arts and her passion for sharing her skills has resulted in many of her students producing prize winning work. Michaela’s attention to detail and “hands on” approach to teaching helps her students prepare for a career in the arts. Michaela organises regular field trips to galleries and exhibitions to give AICA’s students the opportunity to experience other artists work and discuss, compare and critique the work of local and international artists.

 Mrs. Janis Barkle - Visual Arts

 Janis Barkle holds a Bachelor in of Education, Certificate of Art Teaching and has taught both in Australia and overseas. Jan has held positions of Head of the Visual Arts Department in several State Schools and adult education facilities Jan’s creativity and positive energy makes the process of learning both challenging and exciting. Jan’s focus on art in the real world ensures her students are prepared for a career in the Arts. Winner of the South Burnett Cultural award and Design, Jan has exhibited her work in Gold Coast and South Burnett Galleries. Janis has travelled extensively throughout the world including South East Asia, Europe, Canada, North & South America and the United Kingdom. Jan’s students have achieved remarkable results and have left AICA to find careers such as Tattoo Artists, in Advertising and exhibiting their work in local and international galleries.

Mrs. Christine Straw - Community Welfare / Services

 

Christine Straw’s career began in England as a Registered Nurse. (Mental Health)  Since migrating to Australia Christine has increased her qualifications to include a Diploma in Counselling with the Australian Institute of Professional Counsellors. Christine has worked in many areas of Community Welfare/ Services that include Youth Services, Mental Health, Community Projects and Health Promotion Projects. Christine’s practical knowledge and experience in developing community projects gives AICA’s Community Welfare/ Services students the opportunity to learn not only the theory of Community Welfare/ Services but to also explore real life situations and solutions that Christine has encountered whilst working directly with clients and their family.

 

 

Ms. Gaile Calvert - Community Welfare / Services 

 

Gaile Calvert holds a Bachelor in Social Work (Honours), Diploma of Community Services and Social Work, Certificate IV in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) and many industry related modules including Dementia Care, Palliative Care, Mediation and Conflict Resolution and Bereavement Training. Gaile’s practical experience includes social work in hospitals, Community Health , Centrelink and Community Aid Abroad. AICA’s Community Welfare / Services students benefit from Gaile's qualifications and hand's on training style. 

 

                        

Mrs. Elizabeth Archer- Trew - Community Welfare / Services 

Elizabeth Archer -Trew has recently joined AICA Education and brings with her a wealth of knowledge and skills. Elizabeth holds a Bachelor of Science, Post Graduate Diploma Psychology, Diploma of Applied Science (Community & Human Services) , Certificate IV in Business Management, Workplace Health and Safety Officer Course and Diploma of Business Management. Elizabeth's considerable practical experience ensures students learn not only the theory behind Community Services but also gains valuable insight into the day to day issues that face a Community Services worker.
